I haven't really used a lot of video editing software before, so this was all new to me. I briefly have used Animoto and iMovie. I used them withouth using any tutorials. I learned how to use them just by playing around with it until I achieved what I thought I wanted. It definitely is something that takes a lot of time to learn how to use. I decided this week to use Final Cut Pro X for my editing software this week. I had wanted to try some other software, but I am a mac user. I wasn't able to download some of the software at first. So I found the Final Cut Pro X, it was made specifically for mac. :) I watched a YouTube tutorial on how to do some basic editing. It was similar to iMovie, but it had some different options on it. The interface was similar. After watching the tutorial I was able to edit a few short videos together to make a 30 sec. short "movie". I think this will be helpful for future learning, in that I will be able to use it in our assignment for the next few weeks. It definitely takes patience and time to write and rewrite scripts. I can see where collaboration with others will help in the video editing process. I will also be able to show other people basic use of the program; maybe even in the classroom. I will use the file extension wav for my files.

Creating my Digital Story
It wasn't easy to create this digital story! For me, the hardest part was picking my topic. I felt like I had 3 very strong stories that I could use. Interviewing with my partner helped me to narrow it down to two.
Once I picked my topic, I started writing the script. Of course, my script was way too long! I had to edit it so that the most important words were used and at the same time conveying the story effectively.
I chose to use iMovie to make my video. I had never used it before, so I just started experimenting until I came up with my masterpiece!
It was an emotional experience for me, but I had rehearsed this story in my head for a long time. The story in my video is part of my testimony. Had I been able to make a longer video, and had more time, I would put my entire testimony on YouTube.
How great is our God?!

First Round of Benchmarks
Yesterday, we started our first round of benchmark testing with the CPS Clickers! The students loved it. My mentor came and took some video footage; she put together this little movie clip to show what we did.
I have started to find a few little "kinks" in the process. One problem is when a student chooses A for an answer, but they accidentally push D for the answer. There is no way to show what they put in for the answer until it has been graded. We need to find a way to go back in and correct the mistake.
I am so excited about this action research project and so are the students!
A big thanks to Jana Cash, my mentor, for all her help!!!

EDLD 5301 Research Course Reflection
Just an excerpt from my course reflection of what I learned in the course:
Action research takes me out of my comfort zone. It challenges me to think outside the box. I am a firm believer that one cannot grow if they are stagnant. One must step outside that zone of stagnation and comfort to grow and challenge oneself. Nothing gets accomplished if one stays in their comfort zone. This is especially important if you are a leader. Leaders must be growing and challenging those around them or they are going nowhere. Leaders inspire change. I have learned that action research is just the change that leaders should use to improve and promote healthy changes within the school setting.
As with most things, there are challenges and obstacles within the action research process. It is good to reflect on what challenges you might foresee coming. What might go wrong or be a roadblock? If you are aware that there will be problems, then you can plan ahead to try to avoid them or have strategies set in place. Then, when those things arise, you have a plan of attack. You aren’t just stumped and stupefied that a problem arose. Good leaders have solutions when problems arise.
