Liberation!

I have discovered how liberating it is to throw away uneaten food!  Not because it has spoiled, but because I am satisfied!  This must be how women felt back when they burned their bras.

I have always been required, growing up, to eat EVERYTHING on my plate.  You know, the starving children in Africa?  Clean your plate.  I was good at that!  No problem.  Until now, I will no longer clean my plate and be proud of myself.  If I clean my plate again, I will be ashamed if it was a large portion.

It all started at breakfast.  I was enjoyed my eggs, when I stopped and asked myself, "Are you satisfied?"  I wasn't sure.  So...I waited until I decided that I was.  Then, off to the trash can the eggs went.  I must admit, it was hard at first.

Then came lunch, I knew I had way too much food and that I wasn't going to even eat half of it.  So, when I was satisfied, I threw it away.  Over half of my meal went in the garbage!  I didn't even think twice about.

At dinner, again I stopped before I finished (I had 3 or 4 bites left) and asked the question.  I was satisfied.  I was excited to throw away the food.

A new found freedom.  THANK YOU CANDACE!  THANK YOU GOD!!!

Day 16

I know it's been too long since I posted. I get too busy with life!

Things have been going well though.  I have made a "plan", been exercising, and sticking to it.  I have also found my relationship with God is growing!  That's the BEST part.  I have lost 1.5 pounds.

So, here is my plan:
1. My goal is to attain weight loss, better health, and release from the bondage of food.
2. I hope to feel more comfortable in my body by reaching this goal.
3. The cost will be that I must eat slower, drink more water, have dessert less often, cut down on sodas (when I do have one it will be diet),  eat more veggies and fruit, and keep exercising.

I feel successful so far.  I always keep frozen veggies stocked in my freezer and I eat them with lunch and dinner.  I have fruit for a snack.  For breakfast its usually eggs.  The hardest part, by far, is the sweets.  Tempatation is all around in the Dugas household.  My family eats dessert EVERY day!  I have been good so far, but not withou the help of God and this book!  I have been running also.

This book is changing my life, and I hope that I can continue on this path!

Day 3 Reshaping

So far, no calorie drinks are gone!  I did have a diet coke today, but it has no calories.  Eventually I would like to not drink carbonated beverages at all.  Today I am to list 4 things that need reshaping,

1.  My portion sizes of what I eat. I usually eat waaay too much!

2.  Setting aside time for reading the bible.  I get up early enough to do it, but I do other non-important things like check facebook, check the news, check email.

3.  My attitude, it's negative too often.  I get a bad attitude when things don't go my way, which happens often.  I then take my attitude out on others when it's not their fault.

4.  Distinguishing between what I want to eat and what I need to eat.  Getting rid of dessert after every meal and eating more fruits and veggies.

I think this will be a good start to reshaping my life. I hope to go buy the book some time this week!  I'm really excited about this opportunity.

Getting Started

I had a good day yesterday getting started on reshaping myself.  For dinner, I ate only half.  I had Geo burrito; the only fattening stuff on there was sour cream and cheese.  I figured I could eat the other half for lunch today instead of a school cafeteria lunch (which is loaded with carbs).

I usually walk my dogs for 15-20 minutes every other day.  I had picked up jogging at the end of March but I gave it up by the middle of April.  So yesterday I started by jogging a mile.  It wasn't hard at first, but by the end...I wanted to die!  But I didn't stop there.  I came home and got Lexi (she is my basset hound mix) and we walked a mile.  Then I exchanged dogs and picked up Rascal (chihuahua/min pin mix) and we walked .75 miles.  It turned out to be a 40 minute walk.  I was sweaty and I felt good!

Overall, Day 1 was a success.  Oh yeah, I also had water with lime with dinner.  No more Dr. Pepper for this girl!

I'm going to try!

Okay, I'm new to this.  I want to try this new thing called Reshaping It All.  The only way I could figure out how to do it was to create a blog.  I will try it for 65 days and see what happens.  So, here goes!
