Week 2 Web Conference
There was a lot of valuable information from this web conference. Dr. Abernathy answered a lot of questions I had about partners and the assignments. It’s always good to be face to face with the people in the class and to hear everyone’s concerns. It puts me at ease to know that we are all in the same situation. Dr. Abernathy gave us some references to use. She instructed up to Google free video editing software and tutorials, build a basic script, and record it on audacity. She gave references to screencast.com, Allen November, and kathyschrock.com.
Week 2 Assignment
I haven't really used a lot of video editing software before, so this was all new to me. I briefly have used Animoto and iMovie. I used them withouth using any tutorials. I learned how to use them just by playing around with it until I achieved what I thought I wanted. It definitely is something that takes a lot of time to learn how to use. I decided this week to use Final Cut Pro X for my editing software this week. I had wanted to try some other software, but I am a mac user. I wasn't able to download some of the software at first. So I found the Final Cut Pro X, it was made specifically for mac. :) I watched a YouTube tutorial on how to do some basic editing. It was similar to iMovie, but it had some different options on it. The interface was similar. After watching the tutorial I was able to edit a few short videos together to make a 30 sec. short "movie". I think this will be helpful for future learning, in that I will be able to use it in our assignment for the next few weeks. It definitely takes patience and time to write and rewrite scripts. I can see where collaboration with others will help in the video editing process. I will also be able to show other people basic use of the program; maybe even in the classroom. I will use the file extension wav for my files.

Creating my Digital Story
It wasn't easy to create this digital story! For me, the hardest part was picking my topic. I felt like I had 3 very strong stories that I could use. Interviewing with my partner helped me to narrow it down to two.
Once I picked my topic, I started writing the script. Of course, my script was way too long! I had to edit it so that the most important words were used and at the same time conveying the story effectively.
I chose to use iMovie to make my video. I had never used it before, so I just started experimenting until I came up with my masterpiece!
It was an emotional experience for me, but I had rehearsed this story in my head for a long time. The story in my video is part of my testimony. Had I been able to make a longer video, and had more time, I would put my entire testimony on YouTube.
How great is our God?!
